new template-new phoca gallery setup

I am about to load some images into my newly installed phoca gallery. I went to categories first and clicked on NEW. I filled out the title, alias, clicked on save and got an error saying I had to have a category title. I thought that was what I did. What does this mean?

To begin my new gallery, first I make categories, then load images into them, right?
