Hello,
First of all I would like to thank the developer for the nice product.
I am working on 3 language multilingual site using Joomla! 3.1 multilingual feature and PhocaGallery 3.0.0 Beta. Almost everything is OK.
Each image has 3 image descriptions, one for each language. So do the gategories of first and second level and it is acceptable for me.
I use also the Categories View Description but do not see the way how to translate it.
I have looked through the forum and found two ways how to do that.
First - by insertion of text strings into Phoca language ini files. But it is not suitable because the text is not small and should be html edited.
Second - by using EasyLanguage Joomla! extension.
Is there any more way to do that.
The second question is about language switching. All corresponding items of multilingual menus are linked and can be switched between languages.
Is it possible to link the same categories/subcategories in different languages so that when switched in "Category view" I could be switched to the same category "Category view" but in another language. Now when switched from any point it switches to the root(Categories View).

Hi, Phoca Gallery 3 is a Joomla! 2.5 component. Use 4.0.2 in Joomla! 3. Phoca Gallery has the same feature like standard multilanguage feature in Joomla, just take a look at the Joomla! documentation.

Re: One more time about Categories View Description translat
Sorry for mistake. I have checked, I use 4.0.0 PhocaGallery(mod_phocagallery_image_v4.0.0.zip). So my questions are still valid.
I will try to explain the issues by another words. I have to point that it is applied only to menue linked Phoca Gallery, not plugged in.
1. To complete the Categories View Description in English I go to Components->Phoca Gallery->Control Panel->Options and fill in the Categories View Description in English. Then I can see this text in all languages. How to complete it for French, Czech etc.. I do not see the way to switch the language in Phoca Gallery->Control Panel->Options screen.
2. The articles and menu items in Joomla! 3 has the Associations option for linking the same content in different languages. The categories in Phoca Gallery doesn't. That is why it is not possible to switch correctly between the same categories in different languages in Phoca Gallery. The switching in Category view or Detail view throw me out to the right language but Categories view.
If I do not see some possibilities to change these things please let me know.

Re: One more time about Categories View Description translat
Hi,
1) for now I don't know any feature in Joomla! which can translate the values in Options (maybe there is some, really no idea) so for this e.g. joomfish needs to be installed, etc. I will try to find some information about this problem
2) not sure how the associations work but for this feature I think, they are not needed - see (it is other component but only as example):
https://www.phoca.cz/restaurantmenudemo/en/daily-menu - English daily menu, if you switch language on this site, you will be redirected to the same site (daily menu) but translated to german - https://www.phoca.cz/restaurantmenudemo/de/tagesmenu (the language accepts the link and switching to other language does not change the link, only changes the language strings.) ... Anyway thank you for the info, I will test the associations feature so I can see if there is a reason to implement them for the gallery items, etc.

Re: One more time about Categories View Description translat
Thank you, Jan,
1. I wouldn't use the EasyLanguage Joomla! extension to translate the only text in the site but it seems I will have to. Because I need the Categories View Description in different languages to be shown above the Categories View. I think the translation of the Categories View Description would be logical in multilingual context of your product. Really, the Category and Image Descriptions can be translated but Categories View Description.
2. That is exactly what I meant. Very nice component. If I have restaurant I would use it. I think it is well worth the improvement of PhocaGallery this way.
By the way. It would not bad to have Category filter in PhocaGallery Category administrative panel. It would be very useful tool for multilevel Category structure developer.

Hi,
2) In Phoca Restaurant it works the same way like in Phoca Gallery (this was an example only). I have take a look at the associations feature - added to feature request list (I will take a look at it if it can be implemented in Phoca Gallery)
For now, you can do it the same way like in Phoca Restaurant Menu - just create one category and set there images from different langauge - if the first language is switched, only images set in this language will be displayed, if the second language is switched, then only images from second langauge will be displayed (didn't test it but should work for now)
Anyway as written, added into feature request list
1) For now I think about possible solutions:
a) add the description directly to code (components/com_phocagallery/views/categories/tmpl/default.php) where there will be IF clause - if language = 1 language then display description of first language, etc.
or
b) in case you have two menu links to phoca gallery - one for first language and second for second language, some menu link parameters feature can be used: https://www.phoca.cz/documents/16-joomla ... a-25-17-16 ... Means, the parameter of Phoca Gallery description will be moved to menu link parameters and there you can set different for each menu link:

Re: One more time about Categories View Description translat
Hi,
I have the same issue!
I have created a new website, in which I have integrated Phoca Gallery.
The website is prepared fully multilingual (at the moment english and German), but I need to translate the Phoca Gallery Categories too.
I am using Joomla 3.2 and Phoca 4.0.4
Joomla 3.x has already integrated multilanguage support, so nearby 95% of website is already multilingual. Therefore I think, it is not a good idea, to install additional Joomla plugins for managing languages...
MY question now: Are you working on a solution for it? When (if planned), there would be a solution available?
Because my website is still under construction, I do not need a solution now. But I should have an idea, when this feature is available.
Thanks
Richard

Hi, Phoca Gallery has standard multilanguage feature - what you mean with: Phoca Gallery Categories too - do you mean the description of the Phoca Gallery?
If yes, there is a problem which cannot be solve in Phoca Gallery - description of Phoca Gallery is not category description and it is not image description, so you cannot edit it in category and you cannot edit it in image - (where you can use standard multilanguage feature) ... so there is only one possible place where you can set the description - into Options - but options are fully managed by Joomla!, there no Phoca Gallery feature can influence it...
I have explained it in previous post, I hope you understand now, the solution cannot by found in Phoca Gallery - there needs to be some general solution, how to use multilanguage feature for Options in Joomla! or maybe some plugin can solve it (or in worst case the code needs to be customized directly - this is in fact very easy customization for specific site)

If anybody has some solution, please let me know, but for know I don't know any, there is no permission for Phoca Gallery to somehow edit parts which are not managed by Phoca Gallery (like the options are
)
