I am new to all this so go easy on me.
I would like to have an empty folder with multiple subfolders.
I would like the subfolders to show up as categories
Everything is working great, but I see both my categories AND my directories listed as categories. How is this happening?
Did I accidently delete something from the media directory that told phoca gallery not to display these directories. it is kinda weird.
The reason I know it is showing both is that the directories on disk are all lower case and the categories are upper case. on the front page of the photo gallery I see all my upper-case categories and my top level directory, if I go into the top level directory I see all the sub-directories.
Is there a way to rebuild the database or something?
Both categories and folders are displaying

Hi, Phoca Gallery has indepentend file system and database layer, see similar posts in this forum where this is explained and see:

Re: Both categories and folders are displaying
Thank you for the info, but I had read all of that. I have most of my issues figured out. Basically, the database got corrupted somehow. Creating a new category, pointing my sub-cats to it and then re-naming the orig, and renaming the new fixed the issue of seeing the actual folders on disk.
But I still have one more issue. The top folder (which I would like to be empty) always tries to show an image. For now, I have placed a single image in there so the website doesn't look broken. My question is how can I have the top level category empty and still display all the sub-cats?
thanks,
Mitch

Re: Both categories and folders are displaying
Hi, you can use e.g. Categories view in Category view to display folders at the bottom of the site and the top will only display the subcategories, e.g.:
