Phoca Download as "Open Source"

Hi,
I heard, that Jan hasn't much time. Now I want to ask, if the community can help developing updates etc., kinda like an open source programm. Are here a few persons, who can programm in php etc.? And to the mods and admin: What's your opinion about that?

Yes, the problem of me is my time. And and now it's even worse because new Joomla! (1.6) is completely different to 1.5 (controllers, models, all the language strings needs to be changed, installation scripts, depreciated methods, checking rights for every action, jform, etc.)

So overwriting all Phoca extensions to 1.6 framework will take a lot of time. (e.g. 5 months for Phoca Gallery which is now in Alpha and not all issues are solved )

So I am working now on overwriting the extensions for 1.6 which will take months or years. Answering posts in the forum, creating modules or plugins for Phoca Extensions, writing documentation will help a lot and it will be appreciated.

Phoca Gallery is developes since 2006 and has more than 100 releases so it is not so easy overwrite such component

How many hours do you have invested in the new alpha version of phoca gallery?

It was 5 months of overwriting it to 1.6 framework (and it is still not ready). no idea how many hours. Most time consuming is finding and replacing the language strings (you need to overwrite all obsolete strings in the code and then you need to add all the strings to language string file - the problem is, new strings have other form, so you cannot use some automatic script - find and replace )
