PhocaGallery as Default Menu Item

Post by nardong »

Hi,

Been searching this forum and the web for a solution to my problem. Here it is:
I've set my phocagallery(Category List View) as my default menu item in the main menu and assigned it as "home" and I'm currently using the core-SEF with .htaccess. However, all of my category links now have a prepended "/home/" that produces a 404 error:
If I remove the SEF-urls, it works. Any clues on how I can resolve this issue?

TIA and Cheers to all!

Oh my, too careless of me. So sorry about that. Second link should be:
http://mydomain/category/1-some-category without the /home/ (as alias of menu entry).

Hope someone can help me now. :)

Hi, yes, the home is needed in the url, as Joomla! can create link to right url by this alias. Without this alias, Joomla! system cannot identify the right link. So it needs to be included.

Hi Jan,

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, that's my exact problem. Joomla! is putting "home" in the alias so when I click on that url, it produces a 404. :) Have you tried recreating this (making Phoca Gallery - Category List as default menu item) without an error?

Cheers!

If you set the link to Phoca Gallery as main site, then the home is alias for the Itemid of the gallery, e.g. categories view, see:

https://www.phoca.cz/wallpapers/

Phoca Gallery is set as default main link - link to categories view, so if you go back to main site, you get this address:

https://www.phoca.cz/wallpapers/gallery (gallery means home) but the site is still the same.

Now, how did you do that?! :o That is my actual setup ("home" instead of "gallery" as alias) but mine produces a 404 error whenever I click on any of the links (categories) that has the "home" alias (ie http://www.mydomain.com/home/cat-1/). The main page is being called properly, but all categories produce a 404 error. :(

Which settings do I need to check? (I have core SEF and .htaccess).

Cheers!

Hi, it does not matter, if this is called "gallery" or "home"

On the demo page I use standard default settings added by Joomla! - only enabled .htaccess (no changes there) and enabled Core SEF (no modifitations anywhere)

Hmmmm. Thanks for the reply, Jan.

I'm aware that any alias will do (you used "gallery" and I used "home") and yet, mine doesn't work. I'm also using default settings with .htaccess. This is pretty weird.
