Hi Jan,
A few days ago I recieved a message: haha this is a fake message, so I deleted this message. Since yesterday the guestbook is filled several times with letters, numbers, and now all kind of sites and names, but fron the same IP adress are send again and again. Ofcouse I delete them, because most of it are porn, but is there a way to block the IP adress who is sending me this? I have copy the last ones fron this afternoon. I hope you can end this for me please. Many thanks in advance.
With kind regard, Sylvia (the Netherlands)

Re: how can I block an Ip adress
Hi Sylvia,
Go to Backend --> Components --> Phoca Guestbook --> Phoca Guestbook Control Panel --> Parameters --> Security Settings --> IP Ban
Ad the IP(s) you want to block to the IP(s) Ban list. Seperate each IP with a comma (,)
Kind regards,
Benno

Re: how can I block an Ip adress
I do it like this in the section "IP-Ban".
61.*.*.*,62.*.*.*, ...
I separate the IP-Adresses with comma, but it does not function. The spam-entries also come.

Re: how can I block an Ip adress
Hi, there is no such feature, it was added as feature request list, but then recognized that such IP selecting in fact does not make any sense, because mostly the IPs are faked and if you select some range, then you will disable the access for 99,x% user which are not spammers in the IP range
... But still in feature request list - still under review.

Re: how can I block an Ip adress
I think that is my (!) problem then when I want to ban more then one Ip-adress with i.e. 69.*.*.*.
But I think the funktionality will be helpful.

Re: how can I block an Ip adress
Hi.
My guestbook is also under attack. To block single IP in PHOCA GUESTBOOK is not good enogh since most of the attackers sits on IP networks - so the solution is to get the range from IP services and block the complete IP range using CIDR notation...
I use the IP block from Sam Moffat http://sammoffatt.com.au/os/joomla-15-p ... -and-range.
It is good but it is very cumbersome since you must find out what what IP range your attacker is from and then get the CIDR and paste that in to Sam Moffats ipblocker. It works but as I said it is cumbersome...
I would love this functionality from within PHOCA GUEST book. So an option ("click here")to resolve the IP address (look up IP address, get IP range using CIDR) + add this to IP block list in guestbook.
I would pay good money for that functionality and your guestbook, Jan, would be able to something that other guestbooks modules is not capable to do.
PLEASE HELP
