Menu Link 404 Error

Post by Corster »

Hello,

I have searched all over the site and have gone through multiple reinstalls, nothing fixes this error. The admin side works just fine, but when you create a menu link to the component, it gives you a 404 error.

I'm not sure what tables are supposed to be create in the database, but that was suggested as a possible cause of the problem. Here are the tables that were created.

Code: Select all

_phocagallery
_phocagallery_categories
_phocagallery_comments
_phocagallery_img_comments
_phocagallery_img_votes
_phocagallery_img_votes_statistics
_phocagallery_user
_phocagallery_votes
_phocagallery_votes_statistics

The Directory Structure looks like this...

Within: joomlaRoot/components/com_phocagallery/
Contains:

Code: Select all

/front
Within: joomlaRoot/components/com_phocagallery/front
Contains:

Code: Select all

/assets
/controllers
/models
/views
controller.php
index.html
phocagallery.php
router.php

Is this correct? Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,

Curtis

Hi, can I see the site where this occurs? Did you try to enable/disable SEF?

Hello, thanks for getting back to me. Here is the link to the site: http://www.capitalcitycorvairs.com/

I have made the link to the "New Gallery" public so you can get to it. You will see it in the main menu section on the left side.

I have not tried enabling/disabling the SEF because too many other extentions require it to be on, which it is currently. If it's a matter of turning it off, then back on to get it working, i would be willing to try that.

Thanks again,

Hi, you should only test to disable it, so you will find if this is the SEF issue.

But no idea what can be wrong there, there should be not problem directly after clicking on menu link. Is the Phoca Gallery component properly installed?

I guess i would need to know what to look for that would tell me it isn't. I provided the information in the first post to give you a veiw at the installation.

I will try to disable it and see what happens. But, if it does fix the menu issue, how do i correct that long term so it will use SEF? If there isn't a way, i would couldn't use this Gallery on my site.

Thank you, i will report back soon.

Hi everybody,
I'm experiencing the same issue. I'm running PhocaGallery 2.8.1 on Joomla 1.5.22.
The installation ended up with no error messages, therefore I'm expecting the component to be installed correctly.

I created both a menu link to a single category (the one I really needed) and a menu link to the category list (the one explicitly suggested in the article which addresses problems with SEF), but none of them is working.
I can state it is surely a SEF issue because, when disabling Joomla! native SEF and third-party-provided SEF (AceSEF, to be precise), both menu links work. On the other hand, if I enable Joomla! native SEF or AceSEF, clicking on those menu items leads to the "Error 404" page.

I already tried to clear the browser cache and Joomla! cache. I enabled RewriteLog directive in the config file, with maximum RewriteLogLevel (and checked for the correctness of my configuration), but no error was logged. It seems like the rewriting mechanism isn't activated either, doesn't it?

Any ideas?
Thanks for your attention,
Alessandro
