Problem with download counter

Hi there,

i am using phoca download for several months now and everything worked fine until yesterday. Then my download counter ( I have only one file available for download) started to increase rapidly ( about 5 hits/sec ). First i thought its some kind of DOS attack on my site, but this happens even when i set my site offline. This accurs only when file access is set to public. What is the problem?

Which version of Phoca Download and Joomla is this occurring? Have you done any configuration changes prior to this occurring? What is the non-SEF URL for the page or pages this is occurring?

Phoca download 1.2.2, joomla 1.5.12....no configuration changes were made since i started using it ( three months ago ) and everything worked fine until yesterday. This problem is not connected with any particular page...download works fine actually, but counter in file statistics (phoca control panel) keeps increasing as soon as i set file access level to public. So it increases no matter if there is download in progress or not. It increases even when site is offline and no possible download can occur.

Hi, maybe some robots can download the files, but if the site is offline, there is no option to increase the hits?

I know its impossible for counter to keep increasing while site is offline, but thats what happened. In about one hour, download counter increased for 9400 hits. Sites traffic statistic tells me that only about 70 real downloads occurred at that time.
Yesterday i set files download permissions to Registered, and today i restored it to public and it seems that now it works fine.
I havent touched anything else.
Anyway, its not a big problem, i was just curious why did it happen in the first place.

Hi, what you mean with empty? Is the site empty (some error on your site) or is the list empty?
