Hey,
This looks like a fantastic component. Before I start using it I have one question:
Does it support FTP upload?
In other words, will it find files that have already been uploaded to the download folder, or do I have to upload all files with Phoca Download's own uploader?
FTP bulk upload

Re: FTP bulk upload
Hi, you can use the FTP. You will upload the files into the phocadownload folder and then you can select them, if you will add them to the system.

Re: FTP bulk upload
I've just tried uploading a ton of images to that folder and the component doesn't seem to register that the images are there - there's nothing in the images screen.

Re: FTP bulk upload
I know on my server, if I've created a new folder and the permissions are not set to 777, I can not see the folder or the contents.I've just tried uploading a ton of images to that folder and the component doesn't seem to register that the images are there - there's nothing in the images screen.

Re: FTP bulk upload
Hi, ask your webhoster to permissions and ownership settings. there should not be problem to run 755 folders as this is recommended because of security.

[Feature Request]Re: FTP bulk upload
Hi Jan.
First of all, you create GREAT extensions. You are a real professsional, and a saint for giving them away for free.
Second, I think Jangla wanted a slightly different solution.
I tried uploading files to phocadownload, and as you stated, the files do get added to the filename list, so I can add the files myself into the system.
BUT, Jangla said he had a ton of files, which suggest to me that he wants all the files added automatically to the system.
Phoca doesn´t seem to support this automatic adding to the system at the moment. Only the filename list get's populated, which, ofcourse is very handy, but has it's limitations, especially when handling a ton of files.
I would like to suggest a new feature.
Add a new directory in phocadownload called autodir, or similar.
Everything in this directory gets automatically added to the system, and either they all get added to a default Section and Catagory already preset in settings, or, they could have this little nifty solution:
Example:
Top directory structure is:
/phocadownload/autodir
The structure of the sub directory could be something like this:
Section/Category/filename.xox
So, if the files uploaded is in a directory structure like this, then the first dir would be Section, second dir would be Category, and then comes the filename.
The dirname of Section and Category would simply be automatically added to the Phocadownloads Section and Category, and filename would be as it is today; if the field Name is empty, then the name of the file will be used.
If no directory structure is used in autodir, then all files will be added to a default Section and Category.
This way, all files uploaded into the autodir, would be added automatically to the system and hence also viewable in the front-end.
This is in my opinion a really hand feature, and I'm guessing it would be fairly easily to program into the already great Phocadownload.
Thank you Jan for your work.
Cheers
Amrit

Re: FTP bulk upload
I know that when I create new folders for Uploading images to, the folder name MUST NOT BE BROKEN.
In other words, a folder named "Ski Images" must be labeled "Ski_Images"... hope this helps.
