Joomla 2.5.27 migration to 3.3.6 maps
I wrongly thought I had to delete the phoca maps component prior to migration and the maps already set up would be miraculously stored in the db ready to be picked up when I installed phoca 3. This as it turns out was wrong and all my maps have gone 250+ and markers. I am assuming they have gone forever the only bright side is this action was taken on my local host and the live site 2.5.27 is unaffected. If I can access phpmyadmin on the live server can I export the mapping data, if that is the case how do I set about doing this

Hi, yes, with phpMyAdmin, you can export the data to have them for possible import in new version. But if the component is uninstalled, Joomla! extension manager will delete all data from database too

Hey Jan, deep down I knew you were going to say that.
Can you point me in the direction of procedure to extract the correct database information and how to install in my new 3.3.6 website, I can get the old data from my live site with phpmyadmin but I have very limited experience working with databases

Re: Joomla 2.5.27 migration to 3.3.6 maps
Ok so now I have decided start from scratch and input all my maps again but keep the article plugin id, by starting with new maps I can clean out some unused maps but this is going to mess up the article plugin id's. Is there any way I can manually set the map id's to match the existing article plugin id's

Hi, maps have the autoincrement ID, it means it is added manually by database, so to set some obsolete ID, you need to export - change the IDs - truncate the tables - import the items with new IDs
mostly, in phpMyAdmin
