Thank you for the wonderful, work out-of-the-box, Phoca extensions!
In Phoca Downloads, I would like to restrict certain file downloads to certain users.
I see that Phoca Download catagories and files have an access level field, but with only three choices: Public, Registered, and Special.
From that, it seems I can have only one or two restricted catagories of users to download one or two categories of files.
I looked at the Phoca Documentation but don't see anything relevant to this matter.
I'm sure I'm missing something general about Joomla or Phoca Download.
I want different files to be able to be downloaded by different users or groups of users.
Can anyone tell me how to do it?

Hi, see Phoca Download 1.1
you can set the restriction to files and you can set the folder e.g. which will be outside the public_html and where the files will be stored...

Re: Restricting certain downloads to certain users
Hi, I hope I find time for writing manual soon...
If you set the absolute path, you need to know your server's absolute path, it need to be added exactly. you can see if it works in window where you can select files. If the path is correct, then you can see the files of the folder. Be sure you have enabled ftp and you have access to the folder you have set.
E.g. if you are on linux webhosting and your folder path is e.g.
/usr/home/your-name/public_html
and you want to add the files into the folder your-name (it means outside public_html)
you will set the following path:
/usr/home/your-name/
EDIT, see:

Re: Restricting certain downloads to certain users
Please clarify: In the 1.1 extension allowing us to specify a path outside of Public_Html: is that restricting ALL files to restricted users or just certain files, and the remaining files still in Public_Html and still publicly accessible? OR, do ALL files have to restricted then? I ask, because there seems to be only ONE place to specify the path, I can't specify a path for only certain files that I want to restrict.

Hi, you can specify the path only for one destination. And there all files needs to be saved.

A possible different approach: When all the files are in phocadownload (which is in Public_Html), Is it possible to specify a SUBFOLDER in phocadownloads for some files, and then make those subfolders password protected via the host provider? That way they'll be publicly visible, but when someone tries to download them they'll be prompted for a password.
