[4.0.2] Slow working backend after migration

Post by K3cho »

My gallery works on joomla 1.5.26 and phocagallery 2.8.1.
It has been online for over 6 years and functions very good with more than 20 000 photos in 700 categories.
Now I'm moving to Joomla 3.15 and phocagallery 4.0.2. I'm doing it locally (xampp).

I install clean Joomla and phocagallery then export 2 tables from old site's mysql base: jos_phocagallery and jos_phocagallery_categories.
After that I import this content to corresponding tables at the new site (on localhost) and update the field ''language' in both tables manually with '*'.

Gallery works fine at frontend (content plugin etc, ok)...
But...
At backend command "Images" (list first 20 images: table with thumbs) it goes on very slow - about 20 minutes!!!

It works only because I set in php.ini max_execution_time = 1600 sec - smaller value causes displaying a blank page after "Images" command.

It makes it impossible to work on the site.
Any idea?

Hi, did you copy all the thumbnails to your site, so they don't need to be recreated

Yes, all folder structure is restored at new site. At frontend all work well (also thumbnails).

Hmm, really no idea, try to go to Options and set all the Options to recommended (you can see the recommendation in Info tab - last icon in Phoca Gallery administration)

Thanks for reply.
I set "off" making thumbs and all is ok.
I don't now how - because all thumbs exist. Its magic, because when i set "on" making thumb now - its still is ok. Backend works quickly :)
Thanks!

Re: [4.0.2] Slow working backend after migration (XAMPP WAM

Post by joedaddy »

FYI, over the last 2 days, I've tried to 'recreate' thumbnails with Phoca Gallery 3.2.7 (Joomla 2.5) on both XAMPP and WAMP. XAMPP will not create the thumbs, dies to a blank screen after about 200 thumbs, WAMP is working, however it has been running for over 14 hours and is about 1/2 through with 2,000 pictures. Searches on XAMPP & WAMP all show many people having serious speed issues with the software. I think the load from Phoca Gallery puts it over the top though.

Otherwise Xampp and Wamp run slowly as long as no thumbs are created in mass.

Open to thoughts and Ideas on how to fix. Have tried most of the web suggestions (there are many).

Addendum

My BUG - XAMPP VERY SLOW with PhocaGallery :x

My Xampp joomla running phocagallery slow down and eventual stop was caused by warnings messages filling the php log - read on

1 - Localhost/127.0.0.1 - no help

2 - Virus software interference - no help

3 - Port interference changing to 8080 - no help

4 - Wamp - same thing - no help

eventually things failed altogether with 500 errors.

C:\xampp\php\logs\php_error_log was almost a GB (957M)

too big for notepadd++ (my first clue I was on to something) and notepad took several minutes to render.

Hundreds of thousands of messages of the "Strict' & 'Warning' type

FIX

changed the php.ini display_errors=On to =Off "There are several other error on/off switches in there, but this one did it for me."

nenamed log

restarted apache and mysql

Life is good. 8)
