re-captcha, still spam?

I have just upgraded my Joomla 1.5.26 to phocaguestbook v. 1.5.3, and enabled re-captcha in order to get rid of the hundreds of spam I am getting in the guestbook.
No way, althought re-captcha is configured ed enabled, still getting tenths of spam per day. What else could I do?
