gallery slideshow problem

My first post!
After using Phoca Gallery several times - I have my first problem. When I have installed it using previous version it works out of the box. I create a catergory and add images (640 X 480) and they run in a slide show in a window within the gallery window.
I have now installed version 2.8.1 on Joomla 1.5.26, create the category, add an image (640X480) and create the menu link in joomla. I see the thumbnail image but when I click on the thumbnail it take me to the slide show as if it has navigated away to a new window and the close window button does not work. This was a clean install with no changes to any default options.

Any help would be most appreciated.
