I am not sure what you mean by not knowing the goal of creating a CB integration, but here is what I can tell you:
The Community Builder suite extends the Joomla! and Mambo website user management systems and allows to manage those users. Key features include: extra fields in profile, enhanced registration workflows, user lists, connection paths between users, admin defined tabs and user profiles, image upload, front-end workflow management, integration with other components, like PMS, Newsletter, Forum, Galleries. http://www.joomlapolis.com/component/op ... /Itemid,1/
Many Joomla webmasters use Community Builder to create their own online communities. Giving site members the ability to create albums and upload their own files is a necessary feature if you want people to keep coming back to your site. Currently, there does not seem to be a readily available (and free) gallery component that works seamlessly with Community Builder. If you do a search online for "community builder" and "gallery", you will find many people looking for such a product. As your Phoca Gallery comes highly recommended, creating a CB integration would let you fill a gaping void for Joomla 1.5 and Community Builder users.

So... I am going to download and install your product on my latest site (http://www.sunquestservice.com) and delay offering a Gallery option to site users until you make such an integration!

Hi, I still do not know what is the goal of such integration ???

If someone told me, it will be good to e.g. integrate geotagging into gallery, the goal was "displaying the map" ...
If someone told me, it will be good, Phoca Gallery will have categories and subcategoires, the goal was "displaying categories tree"
If someone told me, it will be good, Phoca Gallery will support hihgslide js, the goal was "displaying detail window as highslide js window"
If someone told me, it will be good, users can have own category and can upload their images in the front, the goal was "displaying a form for creating category and uploading images for the users when they are logged in"

BUT what is the goal of CB integration? It will be great to do some integration with CB but I really don't know what should I do? I know there is a CB and it helps people to build communities but what function (view) should Phoca Gallery have ? :( :( :(

Hi jin, thanks for your reply.Maybe I can say something about CB integration.

You know, CB is always used to connect to other forums such as phpbb and vbb, and other component such as jcomments and joomlacomments(in next version 4), and many other componets.

I think it's cool to show my photo galleries and photoes in my profile pages and tabs. Maybe someone can vote it.

It's also a wonderful and amazing thing that I can use one of my photoes in Phoca Gallery with specical effect (like Highslide/lightbox) as my avatar shown in articles, forums, comments and anywhere I left my footprints.

That's all basic things and I think there must be much more exciting and interesting things which we can do with the integration.

regards.

Hi again, if you want to show images in your CP profile, then you must ask by CB developers, because they code the profile site ... :( I cannot do some changes in profile site of CB :(

I don't understand it with the avatar :-( ... you mean that if you click on avatar, deatil of this avatar will be displayed in detail window ?

The problem is, I get still no concrete function which should be done, which I can implement into the Phoca Gallery :( :(
I think there must be much more exciting and interesting things which we can do with the integration
but what kind of things, I still wait for some concrete task, like : do this ... xxx ... in Phoca Gallery and after doing this, Phoca Gallery will e.g. display xxx ... xxx

:(

I follow this discusson with interest, and maybe I have to add something for you!

A good prototype of CB / Gallery integration might be the gallery2 bridge and gallery2 CB integration. Just find them in the joomla extension database. Problem is, Gallery2 is not joomla, so you have a complex task to keep two systems running and integrated. That's why people prefer phoca gallery over gallery2 and coppermine.

Two key points of CB integration would be:
1) Let users (not only administrators) create their own member gallery-tree. Complete with their own skins (= looks), rights management (e.g. only my friends should see this sub-category).

2) Integrate this member-gallery into CB user-profile as a tab. Complete with different views (which category, how many pics, latest pics or random pic, ...).

The Gallery2 - Joomla - CB solution is capable of this all. So its a good thing to look at their solution as a starting point!

A warning first: This is a major untertaking and will change the architecture of the current phoca gallery quite a lot! So nobody should expect this to happen soon! :-)

Best regards,
birdie

OK, I'm glad I can help you, Jan!

The really very good Gallery2 script is from here:
http://gallery.menalto.com/

They have a forum discussing Joomla integration here:
http://gallery.menalto.com/forum/92

This bridges Gallery2 to Joomla 1.0.x (don't kow if its the latest version):
http://extensions.joomla.org/component/ ... Itemid,35/

This is the homepage of this bridge:
http://trac.4theweb.nl/g2bridge/

And finally, the CB plug-in for Gallery 2
(look along this discussion - there is a downloadable .zip somewhere):
http://forum.4theweb.nl/showthread.php?t=1068&page=4

I must tell you, that I have no working integration of these components now. I had one in Joomla 1.0.14 or so, a year ago, but that website is not online anymore. At that time, I thought it was looking just great for the user. But the upgrades and bugfixes in joomla, gallery2, community builder and some joomla bridge components were an administrator's nightmare. Its a complex solution and a pure joomla integration with cb and phoca would of course be much better!

Hope that helps, Jan! Keep it going!
