Hi all,
I browsed this forum and the documentation, but I haven't been able to find a solution to the following problem.
I need to create a gallery using several hundreds of high resolution images. To place them on the webspace would take up a lot of space, so the obvious solution would be to place them on a FTP server. Phoca would use a lower resolution copy for display on the webspace. A link, "External Link 1", would point to the high resolution copy on the FTP server.
The FTP server address remains the same for the entire gallery. The filename of the low resolution image would be the same as the hi res copy on the FTP (maybe except for a prefix/suffix, something like DSCN001 and DSCN001_hi).
So here's the question: What can I do so that, in the "Multiple Add" window, the "External Link 1" field should get automatically a concatenation from the FTP address and the filename itself (+the possible prefix/suffix) ? To do this manually for several hundred images would be a tedious and time-consuming process...
I imagine that the answer may be interesting to lots of users, so I thank you in advance for your support.

Hi, for this, the code needs to be customized, so the info about high-res image will be added by multiple add, but I didn't do such customization yet, so cannot give any specifice advice there

Re: Mass linking images to hi-res FTP copies
has there been any advancements in this?
I have a need for displaying a regular resolution gallery and also providing the high resimages for download.
I need something that I can easily manage inside Phoca or that will integrate well with Joomla.
I could easily add a link to a zip file to download them all but the management of the zips and creating that link structure is very cumbersome when you have 100 categories.
the ability to download one high res, or the ability to add them to a "cart" and then download several at a time.
or all of them.
My server will support the storage and bandwidth necc. as well as the ability to zip/unzip on the fly.
I just need some sort of Joomla gallery or file repository to manage this to manage this.
I have been saying for years how powerful Phoca is and it is most likely the most flexible yet complete photo gallery in Joomla.
Now we need to be able to monetize or use this in a professional photographer or graphic artist standpoint.
Thoughts? Suggestions?

Re: Mass linking images to hi-res FTP copies
Hi, added to feature request lists
But the problem is, it will take some time. The problem was migrating extensions from 1.5 to 2.5 (which took me some years) and now the same happened - the same work must be done from 2.5 to 3 (unfortunatelly there are dramatic changes). Plus there are features which needs to be regurarly overwritten (like connecting to facebook - because facebook is changing the API a lot and often). I would like to implement such feature and a lot of other features, but the problem is time (plus DDos and Spam attacks on phoca server
)
So I hope I will find some time someday (hopefully) and will be able to implement it.
Thank you for understanding.

Re: Mass linking images to hi-res FTP copies
stop upgrading to Joomla 3.0
their updates are getting ridiculous...way out of hand , too many migrations and its a burden on developers.
I still have 1.5 sites that need migrating but they are so advanced that its almost impossible without a total rebuild.
social network integration is very important, you are correct.
I think I can manage this from phoca downloads, although its extremely hard to get the images to show becuase each one has to be done manually
and I have thousands.
