Phoca navigation controls appear after page footer!

Post by Rob_137 »

Hi all,

I'm new here, so just want first off to say a big Hi to all in the Forum.

I'm using Joomla v1.5.21, Phoca Gallery v2.7.5, WAMP; I've set up Phoca Gallery without any special template, have some 30 photos spread amongst two different categories. I have a page showing one category, and have set pagination to 8;12;16;24 with default=12. The problem is that the Phoca navigation controls, i.e.
Display Num[16] <<Start <Prev 1 2 3 Next> End>> Page 1 of 3
are always shown AFTER the page footer, i.e. after all other content in the page, no matter how many of the pictures in the category I choose to show. I want these controls to appear just after the last photo in the category list (and before the page footer!). Is this a common problem, or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks for any help,
Rob

Hi, do you have some screenshot, I for now don't exactly understand what you mean?

Hi Jan,

Thanks for the reply. I've been a little busy, so haven't been able to reply before now.

OK, the first screen shot shows the categories view, which appears to be OK:

The second screenshot shows now a category view, where theSelect and pagination (what i call the PG navigation controls) appear after the content of the page (i.e. after the page footer), and NOT directly after the end of the PG content.

After following a hint in a recent thread in this forum, I have played around with some PG CSS settings, and did manage to get the select+pagination controls to appear directly after the PG content, but it was a little TOO close!

I hope this gets you closer to understanding this little problem. I think I also need to add that the Joomla templatethat I am using is home-made, based on information from Norm Douglas' Youtube tutorials and then customized a little - the template is REALLY simple.

I have a third problem, which is best understood by looking at my comments in the second screenshot - when in Category view, I want to have the category list which appears above the images list, but I don't want the category link/block which appears within the images list. I've played around with many of the settings, but have not yet found out how to remove this one?

Thanks,
Rob

Hi,

Screenshots:

1) in fact this is not easy to do in the html code, because the footer is not rendered by component but pagination is, but you can somehow edit it in css, e.g. set some specific fixed position (but not sure if there is such option possible)

2) you can disable it in parameters, you can display both navigations, one of them, or none

OK - managed a solution, if you can call it that: I rewrote my custom template, replacing the divs which had float:right, float:left and clear:both (it was this last one that was causing the problem - or rather Phoca Gallery not being able to handle it) in their CSS.

What did I replace the divs with? - with TABLES!!!!!

No clear/float problems, but the purists will cry and tear their hair out. Let them, I say ;-).....

Hi, I see no problem with tables - they have advantages but disadvantages (if they are too complicated, it is difficult to edit them in the html/css, but tables are rendered in all possible "screens" well and same for different sizes)
