Usergroups J1.6 and Phoca Gallery

Post by Piranha1990 »

First of all your extencion is great work! Thank you for providing it for free.

I don't get to the result I would like to have, but probably it's only because I make a mistake. Please help me.

The idea I have is to use the different usergroups to define who has access to a certain group of pictures.
I made several categories and pinpointed them to the different usergrouplevels. Tge problem is whatever I do, all registered user have access to all pictures and that is not what I want to.

Public = no access (see most categories but no pictures)
Registered = access (can see only a few pictures)
Registered Friends = access (see all pictures in exeption of a number of categories)
Registered Friends + = access (see all pictures in exeption of one category)
Registered Friends Spez = access (see all pictures from registered friends but not from registered friends + and pictures only for this level)

I made one top categorywith some categories below like:

My pictures (top, public)
-Cities (public)
--Vancouver (public)
---2011 (public)
----Stanley Park (registered friends)
----party (registered friends +)
----Port (registered)

Private pictures (top, registered friends spez)
-holidays prag
-holidays barcelona

The second top category I didn't set up yet but if there is anything I need to know yu can give me an advice right now too.

It's complicated but I hope somebody can help me.

Hi, registered can access the public images, but if you set some specific group for the category, it cannot be displayed for registered, if they are not included in this group.

The ACL in Joomla! is a little bit complicated because it has a lot of features, e.g.

Create new group: "New" and set the parent group is registered (without this, new group cannot login)
Set Access Level: "New" and select this group
In Phoca Gallery category select access for "New" only, then registered cannot see it but new group can see it.
