feature request ( restrict the number of downloads / day )

Hello,

I needed a way to restrict the number of downloads / file / day and created a plugin that is doing that.
It can check the user and/or the Ip from which the download is done and record them.
Now I need a way to display that information in back-end and I can create a simple component to do that but I think it will be better to be integrated directly into Phoca Download.
I'm willing to donate the plugin to this project if you're interested in integrating it.

I would also need a way to reset the count of downloads with one button ( which I can create ) but I will have to modify the extension to integrate it and I'm sure I don't have to mention all the problems that this solution ( modifying the code ) could create.

Are you interested in working together on this changes ?

Hi, it will be great to get information about your modification.

But the problem is my time, I now must finish the extensions for Joomla! 1.6 which will take a lot lot lot of time so really no idea if I will be able to implement it.

Anyway, I think, the IP as identification does not make any sense

I have the same IP as hundred of other users
For users there is no problem to use fake IPs

I would like to send you the plugin as it is now but don't want to make it public just yet.
Can I email it to you using the email address from which I get the notification on the forum ?

You're right about the IP in the sense that it can be easily changed but that will require some work from the person trying that. Anyway it could be activated or not based on the preferences of the user. I would at list like to know the IPs from which the download was made ( this is where the reports are necessary ).
