category view like categories view

I have used a category view via the menu item as the root of my gallery (**reason below) and I would like the view to look like the categories view. I have tried changing many parameters but with no luck. Can it be done? (Also is there an easy way to get the parameters back to the default install state)

**The reason.
I have done this as I would like a front end user to be able to administer all the pictures. The only way I found of doing this was to use his ID to create a main category and then create all the sub categories in that category. I then have added a menu link to this category. It works fine it is just I prefer the categories view

Hi, in fact both views are different, so you can modify the template of them but they are really different.

Setting to default. The problem is, parameters are saved in Joomla! tables not in Phoca. So I know only one way and it is to empty parameters column of the menu link table (menu link to gallery) and parameters of global configuration in components or extension table (item for Phoca Gallery)
