Can I get rid of thumbnail borders?

I am trying to have somewhat larger thumbnails so I changed the measurements in Parameters.

While I can enlarge the thumbnails, the images that are horizontal (not as tall as others) show the borders of a a full height thumbnail that extend above and below it.

Is there a way to NOT show the borders?
