Hi i have a question regarding Phoca Gallery and Picasa.
I've stored all my pictures with picasa on google webserver.
And I'm displaying these Pictures on my website with Phoca Gallery.
But it is very very slow with loading the pictures.
Could it have been a temporary issue, cause they are loading fine now...
The site is not particularly fast, at least in response time - but this could be a matter of where one is accessing it from - but the pictures load fine...
I myself just turned to Picasa web loading of pictures to decrease the amount of traffic the pictures consume monthly...
Funny thing is, I still get much higher traffic results than what site visits would normally justify...Picasa's thumbnails are also of inferior quality (does anyone know if and how this can be changed?)
My fears of low speed loading, especially concerning the Phoca Gallery Image module, were thankfully not affirmed and the overall display has not changed.
Hi Jan (don't mean to hijack this thread, so I apologize to the initial user)
When I am talking about the image quality, I am not referring to the display of small and medium thumbnails, but to the image that pops up when one clicks one particular thumbnail...
...the "Theme" settings in Phoca Component provide no parameters for this large image, just for small and medium thumbnail...
I also noticed the following when testing the gallery.
If the Picasa gallery is changed to private status after having loaded the Picasa inages info and despite providing the authorization key, then it happens that some of the images will be displayed as thumbnails, but they will fail to load when clicked.
This happened to me with two images in the gallery. All other images loaded fine when clicked for the large thumbnail except these two (all were displayed in Category view)
When I changed the Picasa Album status to "public" then those two images loaded successfully when clicked for large thumbnail.
So the album works best if the Picasa Gallery is maintained at "public" status, even after the initial loading.
Hmm this works just partly.
It is faster, yes. If I set the sizes to 48px and 104px
But width and heights are the same, so it makes the picture to a square and it's totally blurred.
Okay problem with the blurred pictures is solved...
I had to enable the function "cut pictures"
I think the problem, that picture load is very slow is, that Phoca Gallery loads the WHOLE Page at once.
So if you click a link and it has to load 20 pics, it first loads the 20 pictures before showing the pages.
Isn't it possible to build it that way, that it shows the pages and while being on the pages, it load's piece by piece every picture?
Hi, php is sending the URLs to the html output, then it depends on Picasa server when the images will be displayed, but there is no chance to load the images e.g. step by step
