Module limitations?

Hello.

Since I'd like to display the gallery on my Home Page (not through a menu), I realized I must install the Image Module.

Problem is, I can't seem to fine-tune the module as I could with the component itself:
I can't control the padding of the box, and most importantly, I cannot display the item description in the box below the thumbnail (only the file name).

What am I missing? How can I achieve this?

Hi, I don't understand, why the module must be installed in case the Phoca Gallery is a home page, here the Phoca Gallery works normally as home page:
