Thumbnail creation issue

Post by licinio »

I've just upgraded to version 2.7.4 and uploaded a batch of images. I can't understand why thumbnails are created one at a time. What happens is, I select the category, go on the page whose thumbnails have not all been created yet, the thumbnail creation screen appears, and after the first thumbnail is created it goes back to the Image screen and I have to start the process all over again. I can't sort it out. It used to create all thumbnails in one go after I uploaded images.
Thanks.

Hi, this is because servers cannot handle so many images at once. For now many servers have problems with creating one image per script, so it is not possible for an opensource project to be coded so that more than one image will be worked at once (in fact no server will be then able to work with such gallery).

Handling one image per script is protection of your server.

So I think that next time I upload 80 images or so, I'd better create the thumbnails by myself and transfer them separately in the appropriate folder. Going through the process of creating thumbnails one by one is not viable. Thanks.

Hi, you can install Phoca Gallery and Joomla! on your localhost, create the thumbnails automatically there and then you can copy them via FTP to your server, this is the quickest way I think.
