Hi everyon
I have tried to install Phoca gallery into my joomla 3.3 site in all described way but failed o do so.
1) i downloaded the package and tried to install it from my computer via uploading and installing it but failed due the size of the file 2.3MB which is larger than the allowed file size by Joomla 3.3
2)I have tried to install it through the ftp, I followed all instructions (by the way, when unpacl=king the installation file, there is no FONT file). I failed to get the installtion completed because when I tried to install (com_phocagallery_ftp_install), I kept getting a message saying (Warning:JInstaller: :Install: Cannot find Joomla XML setup file)
3) I uploaded the installation file (com_phocagallery_v4.1.1) into a temp file via ftp, then tried to install it from EXTENSIONS, EXTENSION MANAGER, Upload & Install Joomla Extension, INSTALL FROM DIRECTORY, selected the directory of the temp file I uploaded the package file into then tried to install it, I kep getting the message: Error:Please enter a package directory, ALTHOUGH I HAVE ENTERED THE FULL CORRECT PATH OF THE TEMP FILE DIRECTORY I HAVE UPLOADED THE FILE INTO VIA FTP....
I do not know how to overcome this problem with the installation of the Phoca Gallery. many nice packages by Phoca depend on the proper installation of Phoca Gallery and it this package is not installed, many plugins or some great features shall halt the proper work of my joomla site.
Anyone can help me with this particular problem with some ideas on how to solve the installation of this file. I DO WISH THE SIZE OF THIS FILE WAS SMALLER THEN 2MB so that its installation would be a breeze.
PLEASE HELP
Best regards
Saif

Don't use com_phocagallery_ftp_install.zip It's made for Joomla! v1.5 and will not work with Joomla! v3.x2)I have tried to install it through the ftp, I followed all instructions (by the way, when unpacl=king the installation file, there is no FONT file). I failed to get the installtion completed because when I tried to install (com_phocagallery_ftp_install), I kept getting a message saying (Warning:JInstaller: :Install: Cannot find Joomla XML setup file)

Re: FAILURE in Installation of Phoca Gallery
Hello again
I did exactly what you have suggested, i followed the instructions on How to install large components with help of FTP in Joomla!, I have created tmp/large-component/ sub directory, unpacked the package into it and also copied the zip package as well into it after it failed the first time with the unpacked package, both ways when attempting thereafter to install it from Extensions installation and after I have specified the large component sub directory I got the message
(An error has occurred.
404 Component not found
Return to Control Panel
NO WAY TO INSTALL THIS PHOCA GALLERY PACKAGE..... I gave up attempting as it looks a MISSION IMPOSSIBLE
My lots of regards
Saif

Re: FAILURE in Installation of Phoca Gallery
Hi, before installing, it is good to remove all obsolete data, see:
https://www.phoca.cz/documents/16-joomla ... m-manually
It helped to users who had similar problems
Unfortunatelly, this is really hard to give right advice there as Phoca Gallery is not the one who installs itself, Joomla! extension manager is the one who install it - and if there can be e.g. problems with memory or time on server, this can go to such problems, and unfortunately by second attempts, there are some data included in Joomla! tables which then prevents from installing the component successfully - so this is why the "cleaning" must be done

Dear Jan & Dear Benno,
Thanks a lot for both, IT FINALLY WORKED
1) I did all the cleanup as illustrated by Jan....cleaned up all Phaco gallery files via Phaco commander
then:
2) I did the installation again via uploading the Phaco gallery installation file into a large-component sub floder of my temp folder
then
Installed the PHACO GALLERY ALL WELL via Extensins then install from large component directory
