Hi, sorry in advance for the (probably) stupid question.
I would migrate to joomla 3 from 2.5.19.
There is a kind of procedure to upgrade phoca gallery?
I mean, I remove first the phoca gallery on joomla 2.5 then I do the upgrade of joomla then I install phoca gallery on joomla 3 or I do the upgrade of joomla and simply install the new version of phoca gallery without removing the version already installed?
Thank tou for your answer and for your patience.
Lorenzo

Hi, try to see this guide (it is guide about migration from 1.5 to 3 but for 2.5 to 3 this should work similar) For now I didn't do the migration yet, after I will do, I will write new guide.

Re: Change version from joomla 2.5 to joomla 3.x
Hi,
I can give some experience on migrating from joomla 2.5 (with phocagallery) to joomla 3.x. I tried it a couple of times over the last year (probably), but today is the first day where it worked reasonably.
Before - I have an automated process to copy my site to a new subdomain with a new database (so nothing is destroyed in case something goes wrong).
What did i do today..
- upgrade to the latest joomla 2.5.20 version
- upgrade (not uninstalling anything) to joomla (via short therm support) 3.2.4.
- upgrade to joomla 3.3.0
- after this the admin startpage works but nothing else because of phoca gallery plugin
- then go to extensions manager and install phoca gallery 4.x (with all plugins you have used before)
- then I did the same for phocadownload
- next you have to fix a ??upgrade?? error in phoca gallery phocagallery_styles table was missing (see viewtopic.php?f=1&t=24676)
- next you have to fix a ??upgrade?? error in phoca download phocadownload_styles / logging table missing - new columns in other tables missing.
after that my page is at least working. I have some minor errors in the layout in general (breadcrumbs..). I still need to figure this out.
My Question now is regarding gallery - the style / layout also changes significantly. Is there a way to the the old layout back?
(in the old version I just copied the params from the joomla extension table form the old version - are those still compatible with the upgarde of joomla and phoca gallery?)
I will keep looking mayself also..
OLD (joomla 2.5 gallery 3.X)
http://www.hmayer.net/index.php/bildgal ... alien-2012
NEW (joomla 3.3 gallery 4.X)
http://www.dev.hmayer.net/index.php/bil ... alien-2012
Thanks for your advise.
Hannes

Re: Change version from joomla 2.5 to joomla 3.x
Hi, thank you very much for the guide.
Yes, new techniques are used in newest Phoca Gallery (so yes something changed in styling as inline styles moved more to standard CSS, the same with background images which can be easily replaced by CSS3, which has more advantages)
There are legacy parameters in Options, so such can be used for displaying the gallery the similar way like it was in old versions
So in fact the difference on your site can be easily set in CSS
- add no shadow to boxes - only border
- add padding on images cca 2px
- add shadow on images
All this can be done by CSS3 techniques.

Re: Change version from joomla 2.5 to joomla 3.x
Hi Jan, today I tried your solution and it works.
In summary
- upgrade to 2.5.20
- save the data from the database
- disinstalled the component phoca gallery
- upgrade to 3.2.4 and then to 3.3.0 with sts option
- installed the new phoca gallery
- inserted the data
I used a local server with WAMP with apache 2.2.22 and php 5.3.13
I noticed that in joomla 3.3.0 I cannot save the option after the modify in phoca option
I don't know if is joomla or your component or WAMP not properly configured.
I will search and I will tell to you.
For now thank you very much for all.

Re: Change version from joomla 2.5 to joomla 3.x
Hi Jan, all it works!!!
The question about to save the option was resolved cleaning the cache of the browser and restarting WAMP.
Finally I noticed that you have to re-link the menu with Phoca Gallery because the old item of menu isn't connected properly after the migration.
Thank you very very much for your great job about phoca gallery
