Log in for component

Hello, Im creating a website where only registered users can view files and download them, but what i want is that only the ones that are logged can access to the component, it would be easy to put all the categories on private, but what im sure is that when the client create a new one he will forget it and all the files will be public, is there a way to deny access to that directory, or the component, to non-registered users?

Hi, not sure what you mean with "link to component" - you should know, that if the component is disabled e.g., everytime some link to file can exists, so this is why the files or categories are protected in the frontend - you can protect the menu link to component, so on public will see it but of course you need to protect categories and files so nobody with direct link can access the files.

I have a protected menu link to the component, but if I am not log and I write the url, e.g mywebsite/index.php/files_repository I can view all the folders. That is my question, is there anyway to protect that url or the entire component without editing every single file or category making them visible only for registered users? thanks

Hi, protecting only the link in fact does not make sense, so the category and files needs to be protected too.
