Hide sub categories

Post by kitenski »

Hi there,

I have been working with Phoca Gallery and have one small issue I cannot resolve.

I have a menu item which Menu Item Type of Phoca Gallery » List Of Categories (Categories View)

However this shows all categories and sub-categories. I'd like to to show just the main categories, then click on the category to show the sub categories.

You appear to have this working on your demo page for Gallery Categories

I'm sure it is something very obvious, but I cannot work it out!

Thanks in advance,

Greg

Hello!
I already tried this option before reading this thread, but if I do so, I get an emtpy content section. So nothing (from Phoca Gallery) is displayed. My main categories contain no images (and they should not contain any images!). Is it possible to get this although working (because if I add just one image to the main categorie "a" this categorie is displayed. Any other with no images in main categories aren't)?

Many thanks in advance! Best regards,
Stefan

Hi, there are two different otpions: hide empty categories and hide subcategories. This what you described seems more a disabling "empty categories" that "hide subcategories"

Oh, sorry, I might expressed ambiguous... Let's put it like this:

I have five main categories (A to E). Each main category contains up to two sub categories (A1, A2 to E1, E2). Every first sub category contains four sub sub categories (A1-1, A1-2, A1-3, A1-4 to ....E1-4).

At the moment it is displayed like this (and if i click one of those links I get directed to for example A1-1 - so directly to the images):

A >> A1 >> A1-1
A >> A1 >> A1-2
...
A >> A2
...
...
...
E >> E1 >> E1-1
E >> E1 >> E1-2
E2 >>E2

But I want it like this:

A
B
C
D
E

and as category view:

A1
A2

and next (so as a further category view):

A1-1
A1-2
A1-3
A1-4

How can I make this? :!:

EDIT: It's like being in a sub sub (which contains images) and click the "back to upper category". As often as I need to come back to categories view (so in my example from above max. three times).

So, finally! To get a display like my example from above, you need to set the following configuration:

Categories view:

Show sub categories: no
Show empty categories: yes

Category view:

Show categories in category view: yes
Show sub categories on every page: first page
Show "back" button: no
Categories "back" button: yes

Category view (category above the images):

Categories view in category view: yes
Show sub categories on every page: nowhere
Show "back" button: yes
Show categories "back" button: yes

That's it.
