Hi, I'm new to Phoca. Have read documentation and searched forums - can't find answer...
I have a large number of photos to load to my site - most are large files, 3-4 MB's each. Is there a compression feature or plugin that works with Phoca to automatically compress the images? I also need to set up the site so that people can upload from the front end and I image they will need to compress as well, would be great if they could compress images upon upload too. I may be asking too much,so any feedback on image compression would be welcome, I need to learn.
Thanks for reading,
Kara

Re: Image compression
Hi, Phoca Gallery does not change anything with original images (see similar topics for reasons why). There is one exception, the Java upload (which resizes the images before they will be upload (but all this happens on your PC)
Becuase all the image processing is done on server, there is no possibility for Phoca Gallery to somehow manage the images. As mostly 3 - 4 MB image cannot be managed by server (the managing is done by GD library which is a part of PHP and most of servers do not have so much memory to manage large images)
So it is not possible to run some compression feature in Phoca Gallery, because you are limited by your server performance
