Upgrade 1.5.26 to 2.5.8 problems

Hi, I am having some trouble with my upgrade from Joomla 1.5.26 to 2.5.8, Phoca versions 2.7.5 to 3.2.2. I have followed the instructions at

In general it worked, though the newly upgraded site (using jupgrade) is using the same database as the old site, so I'm not sure that the export and import of tables in the database actually did anything. When I tried to set the language to '*' msql reported an error, saying that the language field does not exist in that table. I tried the first two of these updates and got the same message so I did not do any more.
The files and database seem to have otherwise migrated successfully. However, two problems are apparent. Firstly, when I go to the Gallery through the front end, I can click on a category and it shows the thumbnails. Then, when I try to click on any of the thumbnails to see the larger version, I get the message:

"You are not authorized to do this action Please login.

Close Window"

This is even when logged in as administrator.

In the backend, when I click on Categories, there are none. When I go to Images, there are none, but in the Category filter control, all the categories from my old site are present.

When I try to multiple add image (they are already in the images/phocagallery/somefolder, I am just trying to associate them with a category, it gives me a message saying it has added the images and 0 categories.

I think that what is happening in the backend may be causing the problem being experienced in the front end? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, the language column needs to be added manually into the system if it is missing there
