Images no longer visible when published

I have had no luck with searching for this so hope you can help. I was uploading images last night and the last image would not display either as a thumbnail or as the full image. I tried removing it and reloading but still the same. Then moved some images into a new folder and none of them were visible. Everything I upload or move now will not show up.
Do you have any ideas I can try? I am not a developer and the website was built by someone else for my daughter but they are not being very helpful.
