Joomla 2.5 - No email after post

Hello everybody,

I have phoca guestbook on my joomla 2.5 and I don't receive email notification when an user posts a comment on my guestbook.

In administration, in the general parameters of phoca guestbook, I have put my administrator for the send Email.

As read on Google, I tried to change parameters in the link menu of my guestbook (component parameters) but there is no Send Mail parameter ...

Can you help me please ?

So I find a solution by myself thanks to this link.

Phoca GuestBook doesn't use the Send Mail general parameter so I have added it into menu parameter component.

If you have some issues, I can help you because now it works

Right now email are not sent from phoca guestbook in joomla 2.5.6 or 2.5.7

Could you post some solution to solve the problem ?
May I explain again the pb :
In the doc you can read:
Go to the Menu Manager and edit the menu option you have attached your guestbook to (this is the menu option showing on your live website). On the right hand side you can change Parameters (Component). At the bottom you'll find Send Email parameter. This field must also be set to the correct value (i.e. the user you want to receive the e-mail messages). Save the menu option and you're ready to receive e-mails.
The problem is: in Joomla 2.5.6 & 2.5.7 there is no right hand side where you can change Parameters !!!!

Hi, Ok means, that it was solved. There is no some specific solution. Just see the guide (in 2.5 there are no more parameters in menu link, so it is easier in this case - it should be only set in Options - on one place) Just set the user to whom the email will be send - this is all. If the email will be not sent, seems like some problem in Joomla! global configuration settings - All the sending is made by Joomla! framework - Phoca Guestbook only adds the text and all the items (from, to, subject, ...) to the framework and it will then send the email. (tested every day on 2.5 without any problem - as I wrote, mostly there is some problem with server settings - e.g. smtp is not correctly set, etc. )

Thanks for your answer.

My problem is, the e-mail settings are obviously ok (no smtp, just regular joomla mail fuctionality): Joomla sends messages, so do some other components (forms), but pgb won't send any mails at all.

Does phoca gb need smtp in order to work?

Hi, Phoca Guestbook does not have any email settings, all the email feature is a Joomla! feature - Phoca Guestbook only send the data to Joomla! which then sends the email - so Phoca Guestbook does not use any own email settings, nor Joomla! settings - as it just ask Joomla! to do this job.
