Multi-language categories

I've searched around but couldn't find out if it is possible to use Phoca Gallery on a multi-language Joomla 2.5 website. I want one menu with categories names in one language and another menu with the names in another language.

I tried to copy the categories and set original group to one language and the copied group of categories to the other language, but this didn't work. I noticed a reply (viewtopic.php?f=1&t=16763#p77816) which claims that an extension could solve my problem, but I haven't tried it yet. Is there another way to solve my problem or do I need this extension?

I solved the problem. Apparently copying the categories doesn't work. I had to rename the current categories, then perform 'Multiple Add' again. It worked after assigning one group of categories to one language the other group to the other language and creating a menu for each language.
