Cannot view images in Galleries

In Joomla 2.5 I have created a gallery and a folder called "sfb" ensured permissions were correct on both and uploaded images via Joomla Media and generated thumbs in the "phocagallery" component. All image thumbs display perfectly and show folder/category name and filename is OK. i.e. "sfb/xx.jpg". Furthermore when clicked each thumb shows each full size photo uploaded. All images are present and correct on server in the "sfb" folder and permissions are set as directory to 755.

New Menu item type "List of Images (category view)" displays gallery(s) and the browser shows "/index.php/photo-galleries/category/5-sfb" where "5" is the category id and "sfb" the folder/category. When clicking the category icon/thumb I get the error shown at the bottom of this post and it is driving me crazy trying to resolve this inexplicable issue.

Is this a known "Phocagallery/Joomla" bug?

PLEASE HELP before laptop hits the wall.
