We have a number of people who write articles using the backend of a Joomla 1.7 site.
We are looking for an easier way to put pictures in the articles. I understand Phoca will allow us to show the pictures as a slideshow, and other great displays, which we need as well, but I am trying to determine if there is an easier way to upload photos. After reading the documentation, this is a two step process, one is to upload the photo, and second is to add the photo to a Phoca category. From there the photo can be inserted into the article using the Phoca Button.
1) is it possible to use the search directly from the article editor? So that the author can search by a photo, and then have it inserted without leaving the "add new article" screen?
2) It is not possible to upload an image while you editing an article. Is the only way to upload a photo using the upload under the component menu, or using the image uploader on the front-end?
The Joomla Media Manager does not work since it does not allow them to create folders, and every user has to default to the same directory, which becomes clogged with photos very quickly.
Thanks for your help.

Re: Easy Upload of images
Hi,
1) yes, with help of button plugin, you can see images in popup and paste them to article
2) unfortunatelly, there is no such option - the upload feature needs to be customized
