Pop up box not showing controls

Hi,

I've been searching to try to find what I think is a simple thing but without luck.

if I do this when embedding a category in an article

{phocagallery view=category|categoryid=2|limitstart=2|limitcount=3|detail=3|displayname=1|displaydetail=1|imageshadow=shadow1}

I get a nice put up box with 3 images that has controls etc

if I do this when embedding a category in an article:

{phocagallery view=category|categoryid=4|limitstart=2|limitcount=1|detail=0|displayname=0|displaydetail=1|imageshadow=shadow1|displaydownload=0}

I get a modal box which has controls to allow me to view all the images in a pop up box

However the modal box is ugly and so I'd like to use the first effect. But I cannot figure out how to get the modal box effect with the shadow box without having to show all the images.

Any help would be great
