Cannot Create Categories

Hi.

Joomla 1.5.24. Phoca gallery 2.8.0 (from the info page in Phoca)

I'm having a problem with phoca gallery. I cannot create categories. Everything appears to install correctly.

I'm logged in as a super user when installing. FTP is enabled on the site.

In phpMyAdmin the following tables are listed for phoca

jos_phocagallery
jos_phocagallery_categories
jos_phocagallery_comments
jos_phocagallery_img_comments
jos_phocagallery__img_votes
jos_phocagallery_img_votes_statistics
jos_phocagallery_user
jos_phocagallery_votes
jos_phocagallery_votes_statistics

I've changed all directory and folder permission in the file system to 777 prior to installation. I'm trying to create categories in both IE 7 and Firefox 8. In IE 7 I get an "error on page" message. In FF8, nothing indicating a problem.

I've run the queries as per the install.bak file suggested in the problem solving area. In debug mode I can't see any errors but then I'm not an expert.

The only third party extension I have installed was Acymailer but this has been removed to try and solve the problem.

Can someone offer any guidance on how to solve this problem?
