Aspect Ratio in Slideshow

Post by Bootheel Joe »

Hi all,

I'm running Phoca 3.0.2 on Joomla 1.7.

I've been trying for hours to get slideshow working properly with a picasa gallery. What I find is that all the options that display a description (modal box, standard popup window, highslide, boxplus, and even no popup) screw up the aspect ratio.

My thumbnails from picasa are 6:4 ratio, so 426x640 or 640x426. Fiddling around with options under Main and Display I seem to be able to get aspect ratio working properly on landscape or portrait, but never both. Sometimes when the slideshow is in "play" mode, everything is fine, and the ratio is only screwed up when stopped (usually landscape photos squished to 4:3 ratio). Sometimes, I get aspect ratio working properly when the player is stopped, but then the portrait photos are chopped off at the bottom.

Browsing through the forum, I've seen several recommendations that don't work for me:

Setting Image Width and Image Height both to 640 works for the portrait photos but squishes the landscape ones into squares. When I press play on the slideshow, however, both are fine.

Setting Image Width to 640 and Image Height to 426 works for both types of photos... until I press play on the slideshow, and then the portrait images are cropped.

Trying another template (beez2 that came with my Joomla installation) gives me the same problem.

Any suggestions much appreciated. I'm sure I've just missed something really obvious, but searching the site for "aspect ratio" is not netting very many results.

(Shadowbox and Slimbox work fine, but they are unable to display my captions/descriptions. Also, the small size thumbnails on the gallery main page are the correct aspect ratio.)

Cheers,

Hi, the best if you are using Picasa images, is set size of images (thumbnails) in parameters which are exactly supported by Picasa, to get the thumbnail in the same size as it is stored on Picasa, see:
