hello Jan
I see you have alpha version of Phoca Gallery for Joomla 1.6... That mean you have 2 seperate components and this alpha version is only for J 1.6 and will not work on J 1.5.
So if I chose to install stable version for J 1.5 and in more less one year when the time to upgrade from J 1.5 to J 1.6 will come how do you plan to allow us to upgrade Phoca Gallery ? Have you a smooth upgrade process planned ?
Or maybe you will propose a future version who will work in both j 1.5 and 1.6 ??
Many thank and Merry Christmas to you..
cheers
how to upgrade to version 1.6?

Re: how to upgrade to version 1.6?
Hi, for now there is a beta version for Joomla! 1.6
The upgrade script is planned but really no idea if I will find time to do it. The problem is, Joomla! 1.5 and 1.6 are different systems inside, there is no legacy mode, etc. so I cannot imagine that one version will work for 1.5 and 1.6. In fact Phoca Gallery 3 is very different (inside) to Phoca Gallery 2.
But I think, there will be some upgrade script in the feature, but maybe the easiest way is to run the Multiple Add.

thank for reply Jan...
- What do you mean by "Multiple Add" ??
- When do you plan to release Phoca Gallery 3 ?? I know is difficult to say for you but I must start a new project and I must be online in more less 2 month. Do you think you new version will be out for this period ??

Re: how to upgrade to version 1.6?
Hi,
Multiple Add:
https://www.phoca.cz/documents/2-phoca-g ... categories
Phoca Gallery 3: It is released under Beta version:
https://www.phoca.cz/joomlademo/
I do not recommend using Joomla! 1.6 in the near future, as it must become really stable first, then there must be more extensions supporting 1.6 (for now there are some but it is still not enough and some features of Joomla! 1.6 are not docummented yet, which means, developers cannot implement them, so all this (releasing really stable extensions) will be moved)

Re: how to upgrade to version 1.6?
hey Jan
Excellent!! Thank a lot for your update..
The upgrade process is a bit tricky but I noticed most of developer made a same kind of process like your...
Personally I want wait middle 2012 before upgrade from joomla 1.5 to 1.7... so I have again some month before starting to think to upgrade Phocagallery and all other components I use... Most of them are already compatible for both Joomla version but right now I wait especially about Joomfish who is not again ready for Joomla 1.7..
all the best
cheers
