Hi Jan,
Sorry that I'm bothering you but I have great difficulty by ordering categories by date of publication. I would like to show descending categories according to the date of publication. In the options I have set all the necessary but not working (General Settings -> Category Ordering -> set Date Descending). I use Phoca Gallery v3.0. Can you help me please??

Hi,
Indeed the same is happening here. Must be a SQL issue.

Hi,
yes, this is a BIG problem because users create new categories, upload images and then published category appear in category selection in random order!?!? Does anybody solve this problem?
Best regards,
Matjaz

Re: Unable to Order Categories by Date
Hi Jan,
Thank you for your reply.
No we don't have any filtering in the frontend
If that can help you , I have the beta 3.1 version with subcategories.
And the ordering by date of creation doesn't work, maybe a bug with the creation date of subcategories ?
EDIT : I think I have it, the system orders the creation dates of all the Categories and all the Subcategories together in the same order.
So if I create today a new "subcategory A" in a main "category A+" which has been created 7 days ago.
And if I created a new "subcategory B" 3 days ago in a main "Category B+" which has been created 6 days ago.
My new "subcategory A" will be normally ordered BEFORE the "subcategory B" that has been created 3 days ago
But this is not whats happening, my new subcategory A is ordered AFTER the subcategory B, even if my "category B+" has been created before "category A+".
This will not be a problem if I have only 2 Main Categories and only 2 Subcategories. But I have more than two catgories
When I want to see all my categories and subcategories in the same page , I have this result :
-Category B <---- Ordered before Category A (normal)
--- Subcategory B <---- Created yesterday and is ordered before Subcategory A because Category B is newer.
- Category A
--- Subcategory A <----- Created today (last in the list)
I know it's not easy to understand
The "date ordering" function is not heritable for the subcategories.
Thank you for your reply.

Re: Unable to Order Categories by Date
Hi, yes this is the feature. Tree will allways will be preffered before any other ordering.
If you have set some tree, that this is fix and cannot be changed - you can order the main (parent categories) by date but you cannot order the subcategories as they are fix to their parents and cannot be ordered by other criterias.

Re: Unable to Order Categories by Date
Hi Jan,
OK thank you for this explanation.
But the same happens in the "List of categories (Categories View)"
These are subcategories, right ? The main categories are not displayed in this view.
So there is maybe a code hack where I can order my "List Of Categories" by date ?

Re: Unable to Order Categories by Date
Now I don't understand.
In categories view, there are listed mostly main categories (displaying subcategories can be disabled). I am testing it here, the the categories are ordered by date normally?

Re: Unable to Order Categories by Date
OK I understand wheres my problem after checking in PhpMyAdmin.
I don't know why, but I have empty dates for all my categories : 0000-00-00 00:00:00
So they will never be ordered because they have the same date
I use the 3.1.0 RC

Re: Unable to Order Categories by Date
Hi to all,
solution to properly sort photo categories via different sort orders is - simple!
Create only categories without parent categories and set in Options -> Display -> Display subcategories -> No.
