Setting to set the size of the image for the categories view

OK, I have been reading and testing different ways to get the Categories page to display the images as my 'Medium' size (250 x 250) but they are only displaying as my small size (100 x 100). I have edited the settings and changed a few settings here and there but still only showing the small size image. Where is the setting to set the thumbs for the categories page to use the medium sized image?
