Unable to upload into gallery at all please help!!

So my friend made a joomla website for me and I seem to be having some issues. I am new to this and since I was not the one that installed the template my knowledge of everything is limited. So first when I go to my administrator page to log in to my back end. I put in my user name and password and first thing it says is 500error-and says something about unable view phocagallery. Underneath that theres a type that says resend to control panel and when I click on that I end up at the control panel. So not sure what that's about but it doesn't stop me from doing anything. Then last night I started uploading images to my phoca gallery and was able to put them all in under my portraits category with no issues. I was able to see them on the actual site and everything was fine. I went back in later and tried to start uploading to a new wedding category that was already created but when I went to the new images and tried to upload the picture before inserting it I get an error that said I have exhausted the bytes and that I needed to get rid of so many to be able to upload. So I looked into it a bit and was told the picture sizes I had uploaded into my portriats were way to big, and I needed to downsize these then I should be ok. So I deleted out all pictures from my portraits category and I resized all the pics to much smaller file sizes. Now when I upload through either new image or Multiple image. It uploads but theres no picture there It inserts it and adds it to the category and everything but theres no actual image just a white empty box. You can see it on the website page as well but again just any empty white boX. Not sure what to do, I think I may need to delete everything thats still there. What I mean is under phoca gallery multiple add where it shows all the images youv'e uploaded I still can see all the files that I deleted from the images not sure how to delete them from here. Also when the box that you choose the picture from when uploading before you insert. I can still see all the deleted pics there as well. IM LOST PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!

For deleting images on your server, you can use ftp, media manager or web server file manager

Phoca Gallery uses independet database and file system layer - so images listed on your server must not be stored in Phoca Gallery (see more in this forum, it is many times explained)

White Box - check if thumbnails were successfully created (see this forum for possible problems while creating images)
