Hallo to all!
I run phoca gallery on local server to manage big amount of publishing house images. All images are physically on NAS-server, which is avialable inside of local network.
My problem is: i need to take images from NAS-server, edit them with phoca gallery (give descriptions, geodata etc.) and save them againg on the NAS-server.
The question is: what must be done with pathes or/and with other settings to let Phoca gallery use NAS-server as acting/storage medium?
thanks in advance and best regards from Berlin
Evgenij

Re: Using NAS-server directory in local network for storage
It is here not needful to have experience with NAS-servers. NAS-server works here only like a from local network avialable storage. The only task to do, if i understand the issue right, is to change the path to directory, which PG uses for saving edited images. Normally it is images/phocagallery.
The thing is to let PG use a directory outside of the Joomla installation directory. It can be very useful for people too, who has big amount of images and wish to save them for example in the cloud (Amazon file storage), or, even like me, on extra storage.
Handling of big amount of images is problematic on usual web servers, which are provided from usual hosting providers, cause the avialable harddiscs are not bigger as 500GB, and usual hoster don't let you add the storage space to your hosting.
I have a managed server for our web things, it is really not cheap, but the hoster says: storage bigger as 500GB - noway!

Re: Using NAS-server directory in local network for storage
Hi, then there can be more options:
- to see the Phoca Gallery libraries - path methods and modify the folder path there (but not sure, if all features will accept it)
- store images on external servers (like Picasa, Facebook) and display them in Phoca Gallery
