recreating the Category fixed it for me also. This was after I had restored a backup copy from a sub directory (Had migrated to 1.7 from 1.5.x and then replaced the live site. Not sure what happened but its working under the new category.

In the end my problem was that I needed to add the following MIME Type onto IIS 7.5 on my server...

File Name Extention: .rss
MIME type:: application/rss+xml
