Hello,
I am trying to have an jpg showing near the download file: I uploaded a file but it isn't showing.
further more, the user upload menu or the view file aren't working:
the view file just direct to a page with a blank article and the user upload shows 404.
am I doing something wrong? Do I need to re-install the plugin?
thanks,
Inbal

Hi,
did you create a menu link to Phoca Download Component?
see: https://www.phoca.cz/documents/50-phoca/ ... -component
Kind regards,
Benno

Re: preview file isn't showing
Hi Benno,
first, I use Joomla 1.6 and I do have a menu item who leads to the downloads.
in that link, after I'll pick a category I want to have a Jpeg showing near the relevant download ( I can have an icon show but not a real image)
I was trying to find a module of Phoca or something and all I found is a menu item, which are not really working as I mention in the previous mail.
is there something I'm missing?
thanks

Re: preview file isn't showing
Hi,
You need to create a menu link to prevent 404 errors, if you use the Phoca Download Plugin. You can hide the menu link, if you don't like it.
With the Plugin you can place your Downloads in article content and you can place a jpg above or below the Download Button. (...and perhaps left or right too, if you create a two cell table and put eg. the jpg in the left and the Phoca Download Plugin code in the right cell. But im not sure, I never tested this)
http://joomlacode.org/gf/download/frsre ... v2.0.1.zip
To create valid Plugin code it's very helpful to install and enable Phoca Download Button Plugin too.
http://joomlacode.org/gf/download/frsre ... v2.0.0.zip
Kind regards,
Benno
Edit: Just tested, the table solution works as expected.

Re: preview file isn't showing
hI,
thank for the effort
I still don't see any change, please let me explain what I did maybe you could see where the problem lies:
1. I installed everything you sent and enabled the "plugins" from the back end of Joomla.
2. In my main menu I have a menu called "downloads" where I have submenues, published: I made a submenu for every thing related to phoca:
Phoca Download
List Of Categories (Categories View)
List of Files (Category View)
File View
User Upload
when I enter the categories, all is fine
when I enter the list of files I can see only the files with no jpeg near them. you said I could choose to have the jpeg left or right...I didn't see any place where I can choose that and I most defenitely didn't see any place where I can attache a download file into an article, since I don't have a module conected to phoca.
when I enter the file view- it's fine ( I now changed the number of file from zero to 1 so I saw a file)
and when I enter User upload I see the 404.
what to do? snif snif.
thanks so much for all your help.

Hi,

And:
Kind regards,

You only need List Of Categories (Categories View)List Of Categories (Categories View)
List of Files (Category View)
File View
User Upload
See:you said I could choose to have the jpeg left or right...I didn't see any place where I can choose that and I most defenitely didn't see any place where I can attache a download file into an article

Re: preview file isn't showing
Hi Benno,
Thanks so much for clearing that up! Wow, great tutorial
I have succeed attaching photos like you explained but I still don't understand 2 things:
1.why is the "File - Preview- --------------------------select file name" isn't working? I would rather post images there cause that way I can use the category option:
I want people to click on the download menu -> then be directed to the categories I have -> then to choose a category and see the files in it, and have an image next to each file.
it is now working exactly like that, except for the image part.
2.lets say I am sticking with the inserting photos near files in articles like you showed me: can I have the categories of Phoca being accociated with my articles? that means that when clicking on a category of phoca leads to an article?
thanks again, your help is so appreciated

The other way round. You can link the Download category to the article via Phoca Download Plugin.can I have the categories of Phoca being accociated with my articles? that means that when clicking on a category of phoca leads to an article?

Re: preview file isn't showing

Uploaded with ImageShack.us
well, the picture you showed is what I meant: I don't have the Preview red button, but if it looks like that then I'll use the articles way that doesn't requires an extra click.
I have only one question : how do I make the category, which has the number of files and the most downloaded fies in it to get me to the article?
and - thanks so much for all your help

Hi, you can use the plugin, see demo:
https://www.phoca.cz/joomlademo/phoca-download-plugin
But its view is of course limited, so not what is displayed by component can be displayed in the article
