the right server settings for installing phoca_gallery

Hey, i got the error:

* JInstaller: :Install: Cannot find Joomla XML setup file

I know there is a workaround using ftp. unzip first and upload all files. all right! but i don't want a workaround, i need the correct settings for my server.
i read the following page:

then it seems like your server has a limitation in that it can only extract or create archives with less files than your OS's file handle limit. Phoca Gallery is large component which includes more files than your server is able to unpack (due to the limitation)

I just want to know what limitation this would be, where to find and how to correct this.
We are using Debian Linux with Plesk Panel 10, FastCGI.

Hi, I am sorry, but I am not server expert, the permissions or ZIP functions in php can be the problem:

- the functions are not installed
- or they are limited
- or they are forbidden

permissions - wrongly set, the ownership can be wrongly set (ftp vs. script, etc.)

But no detailed information, I didn't have such problems on servers where I test, so it is hard to give some useful advice there

the function must be installed because other components are running.


I read a lot about this error. I could be a limit of open files.

But where can i configure that limit?

We have a debian 5 rootserver with apache (up-to-date)

Hmm, really no idea there, tested on win, linux and bsd and worked for me (but some users had problems with memory, e.g. - mostly if ftp is used)
