Layout of the categories-view, tree-navigation

hi,
if I choose the standard categories-view, I get listed all cat´s. where pictures are in.

Is there a view prepared, where I get a more structured view to navigate?
For example, if I have

cat1
|-cat1.1
|-|-cat1.1.1-photos
|-|-cat1.1.2-photos

cat2
|-cat2.1

cat3
|-cat3.1-photos
|-cat3.2-photos
|-cat3.3-photos


one the first link/level I would like to see
cat1 cat3

than, one the second
cat1.1
or
cat3.1 cat3.2 cat3.3
...


untill now, I just get on one level / the first side mixed:
cat1.1.1 cat1.1.2 cat3.1 cat3.2 cat3.3
