Picasa import: Undefined Language

Post by jappas »

Hi all,

Last week i tried to start building a new website for my study accosiation. Since they currently use Pisaca for hosting images and do not want to change this, i decided to try Phoca Gallery for displaying this pictures. Addition of a category and uploading the photo's works fine, but i am facing a problem in showing the pictures on the website.

When i add the new album and import the pictures from Picasa, thumbnails are made. These tumbnails are also visible on the website next to the category. However, if i click on the album, no pictures are shown and only a go back arrow is visible. I went looking to the pictures in the backend and saw that it mentioned Language: Undefined, instead of All (or English or Nederlands). When i open one of these pictures here and save it without doing anything, the language suddenly is: All, and pictures become visible in the album on the website.

To do this for i think maybe even 1000+ photo's (luckly they are in different categories :)) is too much work. What is the reason that the language is put on Undefined by default and what can i do about it?

I used Joomla 1.6.3 with a English and Dutch language pack, server is installed using latest xampp version (1.74) and settings are put right for Phoca.

If i need to place a screenshot i will do it later, i am not at home right now and the server is offline so cannot make one.

As promised the screenshot:

What i need to have is the language by default on all, like on the lowest 2 pictures, instead of undefined.

I have the very same problem! With Phoca 3.0.0 RC4 and joomla 1.6.2 everything was ok. After I upgraded to Phoca 3.0.0 RC5 and joomla 1.6.3 ... I noticed the same problem described by jappas.
This problem make Phoca unusable with foto imported from picasa. :(
Please correct the error and release a new RC.
Thanks

Does one of the moderators or programmers has an idea? A Quick and dirty fix is also ok for me ;).

Or: If RC4 can be used with Joomla 1.6.3. Does someone has this version on his PC and could he/she upload this somewhere for me. Then i could try if this solves the problem without big compromises to other things.

Hi,

offtopic:

Phoca Gallery does not do thumbnails from Picasa images, it uses the thumbnails stored on Picasa:

Does someone has this version on his PC
You can find all versions here:

Confirmed, the language is set to undefined, which is wrong, it should be taken from the settings in Category View, I will take a look at it - to fix it for the next version of Phoca Gallery.

Thank you for this info.
