Hierarchy issue with main and subcategory images

Post by tiabradford »

Hello,

I am a first time poster to the Phoca Gallery forum. I have searched through the help forum and documentation, but have not found a resolution yet. I am using the most recent version Phoca Gallery for Joomla 1.6 on Windows 7.

I have a client who already has an established website. It is my job to move this site onto the Joomla CMS. It is set up like an online catalog.

I am attempting to recreate their catalog menu, but am having trouble getting the images from the main menu and the sub menus separated into the appropriate areas. Here is the link to the main catalog menu : http://www.renaissancebuttons.com/catalogmenu.html. From here you can see the broad categories for the site (New Items, Wood and Coconut ...). Once the image has been clicked, for example New Items, it opens up a gallery with smaller images from that category. Then, once the smaller image is clicked a large image appears. I need this same functionality from the Phoca Gallery.

The problem I have is getting the broad categories (new items, wood and coconut...) to display with their own separate images (and not from an image with the sub category itself) and second, getting the sub categories (for example all of the thumbnail new items images) to be the gallery that is shown when the broad category item is clicked. Right now it just displays the broad category image and not the gallery with the thumbnail images.

I do not know if this set up is possible with Phoca Gallery. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, in Phoca Gallery you can display:

- images from category or subcategory
- folder icon
- avatar as icon for category. In other case it must be customized in the code :-(

See how Phoca Gallery works (because of the second question):
