Protect Images from direct access

Hello People.
i installed phoca gallery on joomla 1.6 and i like it. But i found one issue. If i take a look on properties from the picture i can simply found the path to the original image. So if i put the path in browser adress, then i can access to the image direct.

I woul like to create a website with our private fotos family fotos. And with joomla 1.6 i can realy simple grant access for one group. The peoples who later should see the photos will get members of this group. All other visitors should never see the photos.

How i can protect them from direct access. If i try this with .htaccess so then have joomla no access more.
Is it possilbe to put the photos out of htdocs root?

Hi, try to search this forum, there are guides which are about the .htaccess or disallowing the access to the folder.

This is a common problem, if some image is displayed in browser that the path can be found for it - you can remove the original images, like here:
https://www.phoca.cz/stockphoto/stock-ph ... y/1-prague

So - thumbnails have watermark and original images do not exist anymore (but of course you need to backup them, because original images are needed for many functions in Phoca Gallery - like recreating thumbnails, etc. - for such actions, they need to be copied back)
